Electrostatic Painting
Electrostatic painting is a process of applying an oil-based paint to a metal surface via a special sprayer. Through a magnetized attraction field, the paint may curb to get otherwise impossible to reach places while avoiding others. Due to this fine sprayer and oil-specific settling properties, the finish is as perfect as the surface beneath it– usually a perfectly smooth finish. Electrostatic painting can lead to outstanding results when done by a professional.
Most oil paints can be used through this type of technique but commercial and industrial grade paints are more common since the service is rather expensive to begin with. The marginal cost of heavy duty paint is therefore diminished.
A common misconception is that electrostatic painting delivers a more durable product. The fact is that the durability is only as good as the product used. If this product can be applied with a very fine roller, the durability– and look– will be as good.
Here are some examples of surfaces that can be electrostatic painted:
- escalators (the inner sides)
- elevator doors
- wrought iron stairs and balconies
- bathroom stalls
- any metal structures
