What is chalkboard paint?

Chalkboard paint

Chalkboard paint gives a result similar to the surface of a green chalkboard traditionally used in schools, which means it’s possible to write on them with chalk.

This kind of paint has great washability and a good adherence (it adheres on all surfaces except PVC) However, we do recommend to wait 2 to 3 weeks before starting to write on the wall to make sure the coating has hardened enough.

Chalkboard paint is often used for a small notes wall in the kitchen (to write your grocery list, for example) or on the walls of kids’ bedrooms. Indeed, the kids will thus reinforce their creativity and it won’t be a challenge to clean! Moreover, chalkboard paint is now sold in a great variety of colors. Let your child choose his!

Chalkboard paint must not be confused with magnetic paint: chalkboard paint alone does not have any magnetic characteristics. However, it is possible, and very common to combine it with magnetic paint so that you will be able to write on it with chalk and use magnets to hang papers on it.

Magnetic paint

Magnetic paint can hold magnets, and it only exists in a gray color. We usually recommend applying 3 coatings to have a bigger magnetic power. Moreover, is’t also possible to add a coating of a colored paint to cover the gray (a chalkboard paint, for example); the magnetic power will only be a little lessened.
